Gyokuro Premier – "Jade Dew" Shade-Grown Japanese Green Tea

Gyokuro Premier, also known as "Jade Dew, " is one of the highest grades of Japanese green tea. Cherished and sought after by connoisseurs around the world, gyokuro is a rare Japanese tea that's shaded for at least two weeks before harvest. This naturally boosts the chlorophyll and amino acids in the leaf, producing a unique, deep and sweet cup.

Naturally grown gyokuro of this quality is rarely exported and can be difficult to find, and we've gone to great lengths to bring it to you. Harvested just once a year in spring, its increased chlorophyll adds depth, flavor, color and complexity — and enhances its natural nutritional content too.

Tasting Notes

  • Dry leaf: deep, glossy green needles
  • Liquor: rich, deep jade
  • Flavor: deep, sweet and savory umami
  • Texture: silken and smooth
  • Finish: slightly buttery and lingering

Why You'll Love It

Gyokuro Premier offers one of the most luxurious green tea experiences in the world. Its rich umami, natural sweetness and silky mouthfeel make every cup feel special. It's a smooth, savory cup to savor slowly.

  • One of Japan's highest-grade green teas
  • Shade-grown for rich umami
  • Harvested once a year in spring
  • Rarely exported — a true connoisseur's tea

How to Enjoy

We highly recommend paying special attention to water temperature and steeping time — never use boiling water, as cooler water brings out gyokuro's sweetness and umami. Serve it in small cups, savor it slowly and re-steep the leaves for several infusions.

Rich, silky and deeply rewarding, Gyokuro Premier is a jewel of Japanese tea.

A little steeping tipLet just-boiled water cool for a minute or two — water that’s too hot can turn delicate leaves bitter. Good leaves give a lovely second cup, too.

My second review of this tea. Still a delightful! The color is inspiring, the smell before infusion is addictive and the taste unique. Try it !????

This is a very high-quality tea with a rich green color and full, smooth flavor that lasts through multiple infusions. I've tried a few green teas ordered directly from Japan, and this one is easily on par, maybe even better.

Wonderful. I've tried several of the Gyokuros here and, IMO, this is the best. Mildly sweet but savory and smooth. Along with the Sencha Satsuma, I drink five or six cups a day. I can (and do) drink it all day, although it's kind of my late morning/afternoon tea since it's got a bit more caffeine than some green teas (but not that much). I don't oversteep the tea but I do 'double dip' it. Steep for 2 minutes, pull it out and let it drain, and then dip it back in for 5-10 seconds. Creates a stronger flavor that is not oversteeped, IMO.

[FR] Fameux! Odeur de pêche et de chocolat quand on ouvre la sac. Goût intense! Un grand cru!
